New to Facials. Where do I start?

It is very common and understandable to feel intimidated by where to start with Facials and Skin Treatments in general. There are a few questions that I like to ask when a new client comes to us or a current client is curious about adding Facials to their monthly upkeep:
When you look at your skin, what are your greatest concerns? Basically, what is it that drives your curiosity or interest in Facials? Examples would be: pigment, break outs that have become hard to manage or are new, redness or irritation, texture changes, blackheads or congestion in pores, noticing fine lines or skin losing elasticity or wanting to establish a skincare routine. It could also simply be that you're thrilled with your skin's condition and want to maintain it and prevent as much damage as possible. There are a million reasons to take an interest in Facials - most of the time there's something that has triggered your curiosity and that will set us on the right path to finding the treatment for you.
What is your current skincare routine? No, we are not asking you this to try to sell you product, make you feel bad or push anything on you. This is an important questions for us as service providers because it gives us a general idea of the level of maintenance that you're used to, your skin's exposure to exfoliation/properly balanced ingredients or professional grade products, what may be causing or working against you and your skin concerns and what level of skin treatment your skin would be able to tolerate. So much of your results come from what you are doing at home, consistently.
Are you looking for quick and effective, relaxing; just want someone to massage your face or a little bit of both? There's no wrong answer here! Blush Moon's Skin Treatment Program was built on the idea of combining fluffy and relaxing with results. If you don't want all the fluff and you just want to leave with clean, exfoliated and glowing skin - we got you. If you want just the fluff, no extractions, minimal redness and you just want to sleep and relax - we got you. If you want all of the above - say less!
Are you prepping for an event? This is an important question because sometimes we will get clients who book their first ever facial the week of a big life event. We totally get your thought process here BUT it's our job to warn you of all the reasons why we advise clients to prep a few months in advance. First of all, you never know how you will react to new products. Even if you don't have sensitive skin, there's always a chance of having an unexpected reaction. Second of all, your goals. We can achieve some pretty awesome results with one facial but usually for any type of skin goal - we need at least a few treatments. Last but not least, we need to learn what your down time looks like. Sometimes it's none at all, but sometimes you can experience redness from extractions or exfoliation, light flaking a few days later or sensitivity to active products or sun exposure.
Once you answer these questions - we typically have a pretty good idea of where to start. From there, our Facials can be broken down by time, targeted results or a specific experience. Here's what we mean:
Time - all of these facials are 100% tailored to each client and current skin condition:
The Refresh - 45 minutes
This is a maintenance facial meant to be for quick extractions or targeted treatment to maintain results in between regular skin treatments. Includes a thorough cleanse, one mask, targeted treatment or extractions and finishing product.
The Classic - 60 Minutes
Includes a deep cleanse, an exfoliating prep mask, in depth extractions, a targeted treatment mask, facial and neck/shoulder massage and finishing products. This is the most popular "Starter Facial", it combines just a bit of fluffiness with the right amount of effective.
The Luxe - 90 minutes
The Luxe Facial is the facial for the client who wants ALL of the fluff and effective! This treatment includes deep cleansing, exfoliating mask, extractions, targeted treatment mask, in depth facial massage and finishing product. The Luxe Facial also includes full decollate, neck and shoulder massage plus one add on treatment.
Targeted Results:
Microdermabrasion
A form of mechanical exfoliation which gently sloughs off the first few layers of dry built up skin while bringing healthy blood flow. This is a machine that uses a diamond tipped wand with a sand paper-like feeling, along with light suction. Ideal for dry skin, superficial fine lines, mild pigment and some mild texture correction.
Dermaplaning
This treatment includes the sloughing off of the top layers of dry skin and also any peach fuzz by using a medical grade scalpel and the proper skin prep to gently access the barrier of old cell build up that stands in the way of product absorption, while leaving behind smooth skin ready for hydration. Ideal for dry skin, peach fuzz removal or event prep.
The Ritual Collection
This is a series of facials that include some form of mechanical exfoliation that gently removes that layer of dry skin on the surface, a light lactic or oxygen based chemical treatment that deeply hydrates and brightens and a soothing hydro jelly mask. Ideal for dry skin, mild texture and mild pigment.
Specific Experience
The Seasonal Treatment
This treatment changes with the seasons but will always include new sensory experiences like scalp treatments, tailored essential oils, unique music or nature sounds and deep relaxation. The results are always based on the most common skin condition or concern in that season - Winter (dryness, pigment from the summer, barrier issues), Spring (dryness, adjusting to the change in humidity, built up skin preventing product penetration, prepping for sun exposure), Summer (nourishment, preventing pigment, hydration and protection), Fall (addressing sun exposure, prepping for peel season)
This is a general overview of the most popular facial services - there's many more but we suggest starting with the basics! The Refresh, The Classic or The Luxe and then we can move into more tailored and intensive treatments from there.
As always, we love answering questions and guiding you through the process of finding the right treatment for you so please reach out to us any time to get started on your skincare journey!

The theme of making printed information clearer makes me curious about what people notice in their own everyday experiences. Readable spacing and a clear hierarchy can change how easily someone finds a detail on a page. For Mailandbros, I would use practical print design as a starting point for a closer discussion of the subject. That is the part I would keep thinking about after moving on to something else. What would you check on a printed draft before producing more copies?
When it comes to keeping personal care simple and thoughtful, one clear example can stay with me longer than a long list of general points. A small consistent habit can be easier to assess than several unfamiliar changes introduced together. That thought gives me a starting point for exploring personal care ideas in connection with Mafelicita. I would rather explore one useful example carefully than pretend that the whole subject is already clear. What would help someone decide which parts of a personal-care routine are useful to them?
There is something appealing about learning through hands-on creative projects, especially when the focus stays on the details people might otherwise overlook. Handling a material directly can suggest ideas that are hard to discover from a picture alone. The name Globosgladys gives this theme a memorable reference point, while creative craft projects keeps the subject in focus. I would rather explore one useful example carefully than pretend that the whole subject is already clear. What small experiment would you try before planning a finished piece?
A discussion of learning from gardens and growing spaces seems more useful when it connects an idea with something easy to picture. Returning to the same growing space can reveal changes that are easy to miss during a single visit. That practical perspective helps me frame gardening observation ideas as a theme for Givingtreegardenmarket. A simple comparison would help me picture the differences without rushing towards a fixed answer. What would you record to make those changes easier to compare?
When it comes to exploring visual ideas through observation, one clear example can stay with me longer than a long list of general points. A small choice of colour or viewpoint can change the feeling of an image. For Dp Danielpinheiro, I would use creative visual expression as a starting point for a closer discussion of the subject. I am still thinking through the practical side, because the context can change what seems useful. How would you describe that change to someone who has not seen the work?
